O direito de dar de mamar em público disseminou uma onda de protestos na internet e nas ruas.
A campanha ganhou força depois que a jornalista Kalu Brum, 31, anunciou num blog que foi “censurada” na rede social Facebook após postar uma foto dela quando amamentava.
Uma das organizadoras do “mamaço” previsto para hoje, às 15h, no Itaú Cultural, no nº 149 na avenida Paulista (região central), Kalu deu início a uma série de protestos.
O “mamaço” foi idealizado depois que a antropóloga Marina Barão, 29, foi impedida de amamentar seu bebê em uma exposição no local, em março passado.

O episódio foi o estopim de uma sequência de manifestações na rede social. Kalu deu força aos protestos, especialmente após a foto postada por ela ser retirada da rede social, anteontem. “Minha vontade foi sair deste espaço, mas acho que o Facebook é rico para promovermos discussões”, disse Kalu no blog Mamíferas (www.blogmam iferas.com.br).
Após o relato, seguidoras de Kalu passaram a trocar as fotos dos perfis por novas, a maioria com o peito à mostra durante a amamentação.
Moradora de Nova Lima (MG), Kalu amamentou o filho Miguel, hoje com quatro anos, até os três. Ela já foi repreendida por dar de mamar em público. “Estava com o Miguel no aeroporto de Confins (MG), e as pessoas vieram me questionar por que eu amamentava um menino grande”, contou à Folha.
Uma mensagem do Facebook recebida por Kalu dizia que a foto “viola os termos de uso”. Procurada, a empresa não se pronunciou. Em sua página, o Facebook diz não permitir anúncios com “conteúdo adulto”, o que inclui “nudez, imagens de pessoas em posições ou atividades excessivamente sugestivas ou sexuais”.

Eduardo Saron, diretor do Itaú Cultural, disse que a proibição da amamentação foi um erro já corrigido. Segundo ele, há uma regra que impede as pessoas de se alimentarem no espaço. Quando um dos orientadores viu a mulher dando de mamar, levou a regra ao pé da letra.
“Esse episódio foi um aprendizado para nós. Continuamos com a regra, mas com uma exceção para amamentação”, disse Saron, que receberá as mães hoje.
O Itaú Cultural organizará uma programação permanente para mães lactantes.
“É até ridículo não aceitar ver uma mãe amamentando, algo tão natural, em público”, resumiu o pediatra Mauro Toporovski.
O pediatra, porém, pondera que a amamentação após os dois anos, caso de Kalu, é desnecessária. “Não é recomendado, pois a criança tem condições de mastigar alimentos ricos.”
